Gamma waves and flashing without glasses

I read something on another site that mentioned alpha, beta, theta, delta and GAMMA waves, in association with altered states... is this something i managed to miss in my research, or are these people talking about things they know nothing about? <BR>Also, I started using the mind machine, and the ultra meditation series... two results. <BR>1. headaches through the day <BR>2. I now get the same type of flashing in my eyes, with the um series, that i get with the mind-quest machine light glasses... but i don't have any glasses on when i am doing the um sessions... <BR>comments please

The only time I've heard gamma waves mentioned is in relation to radiation! In all my forays into the neurological and neuropsychological literature, I've never seen anything but the first four brainwave types mentioned. I'd get back on that site and directly challenge whoever wrote that, asking where they got their information. <BR> <BR>#1: Dane mentioned, I think, in an earlier posting that the mind machine was not designed for use with UM because the entrainments are different. That didn't stop me from experimenting with it, however, with the mind machine volume turned very low and the background set to "None" instead of surf or whatever. My results have been good, but I do make sure I do a "straight" UM session a day (i.e., no glasses). I did have a headache once, but that's all. <BR> <BR>#2 is VERY interesting. <BR> <BR>I'm going to do UM today sans glasses and pay more attention to what kind of effects I get during the session. Normally I'm not analyzing what's happening, just transcending. <BR> <BR>I did notice, though, that I started having more awareness of "atoms" (that I described in an earlier post on "flashing lights") after I started using the light glasses. Also, colors now seem very much richer and more beautiful to me. (This, however, could be a side effect of cutting myself back on my anticonvulsant medication, because I used to see things in this way more often before my seizure disorder was diagnosed. As I've said before, my EEG anomaly is excessive bilateral theta slowing...so maybe being in theta is what does that and maybe it's not so anomalous as the neurologists think it is.) <BR> <BR>Do you have any medical condition that you are aware of that might be being affected by your UM/light glasses experience? Are you on any medication that could be coming into play? <BR> <BR>Also, are the experiences you describe still happening, or did they just happen for a day or so? I'm really interested in hearing what Dane has to say about this. <BR> <BR>Diane
