I have a 9 1/2 year old Scottish Terrier. While we have always been very close and she is a very loving dog, if you know Scotties, you know they're not lap dogs. Nor was she---until I started doing UM.

At first she made sure she was in the same room. Then, she was lying very close to my chair. Tonight, she had to be in my lap; what next?

Generally, if she's in my lap, she's very restive and moves around a lot; in less than five minutes she's back on the floor.

Tonight, as soon as I sat in my chair and turned on the stereo, she wanted to be in my lap. She settled down and stayed right there until the cd was over and I started to get up. She was so relaxed my moving startled her and she jumped. I'm sure she was also meditating!

So Dane, what do you think? Is this the first documented case of beaming a Scottie up???

After reading your post I couldn't help but laugh out loud for at least 10 minutes.

Actually you're not the first to report the "pet-in-trance" phenomena. I got a letter a few years back with a picture (I should post the pic because it looks so funny) from a guy with a cat who had a similar experience. Seems the cat would curl up next him and get as close to his headphones as possible. The cat couldn't get enough of it, so this guy went out and bought those ear-bud type headphones and plugged him in every day. The cat loved it. And the picture he sent me was of his cat meditating...totally zoned out...with ear buds stuck in his ear. I was tempted to write the guy and ask him for a picture of his cat...journaling.

My dog does the same thing. He likes curling up on me now while I listen. Normally he prefers to lie at my feet, but lately he wants to be closer to my head, especially when I am listening. He must like the good vibes. He also loves it when I play the Mozart track. He just lies there and listens, eyes rolled back in his head. He is a comedian!
