Bear with me through a bit of background health wise so that comments to my questions can be made in the proper context. I am challenged by fibromyalgia, migraine and tension headaches since age 6, sleep apnea, allergies and degenerative disc dis-ease. Recently, I had to work through a headache that was unlike any that I had ever experienced before. The doctors had no explanation for its source. It was located directly in the center of my forehead (not between the eyes). The headache lasted approximately 8-10 weeks give or take a bit and was finally resolved by the use of pain medications that are usually reserved for terminal cancer patients. I underwent an MRI and other than determing that I have an Arnold Chiari malformation (the back portion of my brain extends into my spinal column and thus is possibly compressed)they could not locate a specific cause for the headache. During the course of resolving the headache, I lost my job (basically because I have fibromyalgia and they were unwilling to work with me so that I could continue to do my job.) Once the headache was resolved, I took myself off of the stronger pain medications and am now back to my regular routine with only minor, occasional headaches which are typical and respond to regular medications. The reason for giving you this background is that during a meditation session with one of the Transcendental Mind Series CDs that pain in the center of my forehead was recreated and I would like to know if anyone has experienced anything similar to this or has an opinion why this might have occurred.

I had a very interesting experience while working with one of my meditation CDs this morning. I was listening to one of the ones from the "Transcendental Mind Series" entitled "Indonesian Karma....Balinese Ghost Ceremony". These are supposed to be as if you were actually there experiencing the ancient ceremony at least as I understand it. The chanting (if you could call it that) portions of the CD where intriguing. They were not rhythmic as one would expect but rather not unlike the explosive (I want to say shouting but it really isn't) sounds that I have heard made in some possibly African or South American Native marriage ceremonies. In the context of the marriage ceremonies, the sounds were used to drive away evil spirits so that the couple might enter into their commitment safely and blessed. The experience of the sounds was as though they were working to "break up" something, whether energy blocks or thought forms or exactly what I am not sure. I ended up with a rather annoying headache at that specific spot where the long term headache manifested itself. Directly in the center of my forehead. Now about two hours later, I still feel the remnants of the headache. I did not take any medication to try to get rid of it but decided to see if it would resolve on its own. Any ideas?

~Angharad
