i first bought my zygon in about 1993 or 94.
had a great time except i am still smoking (figure i have a real block on that one)

the headset i had gave me no end of trouble as the power jack at the back wanted to stick into the chair i was in and eventualy snapped off.

no worrys.. i have lived in the bush (Australia) all my life so there aint no such thing as a problem, its just a solution waiting to happen.

did some minor modifications and got it all up and running again.

my question is....what are the headsets like now it is 10 yrs plus down the track?

my other problem is...due to the age of the discs they now jump and static there way through sections due to scratches.
do i junk them and re-purchase or can i fix them in some way?

cheers
wombat.

Hi,

I'm not sure how to compare the headsets of today to 10 years ago, since I never saw them 10 years ago, but now they have an option for a 9v battery so you can go cordless. As far as I can tell, even when plugged in, there would be nothing that can crack off.

Regarding your question about skipping CDs, if the typical ways of resolving the problem with any scratched CD don't work (i.e, purchasing one of those CD scratch removers from any music store), you might want to try my mp3 conversion method that I posted on another group as a solution to the buzz problem. Best bet, is to buy a new set (including headphones) on ebay. You can get a good deal nowadays. It never hurts to have an extra anyway. --Adam

thanks atroy,

i have a funny feeling the headset i have would be classified as pre historic,
going by the description you have given of the one you have.

agree about the cd repair kit... been there tryed that... didnt work.
time,i feel,for a complete upgrade.

is it possible for you to put a link in, that takes me to where i need to be on ebay?

thanks again.
